Clement Yongxi Chen

Dr. Yongxi Chen is a Research Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, The University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on freedom of information, data protection and comparative administrative law. One of his recent projects explores the relation between the right to privacy and open data initiatives in the fields of civic engagement, social sorting, and health data sharing. He received his legal education in The University of Hong Kong, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and Sun Yat-sen University. His thesis on the judicial protection of freedom of information in China was awarded the Intersentia Prize for the Best PhD Thesis in Law. Teaching Chinese public law, he has also advised on local legislation in China related to FOI and informatization. He was a WYNG Visiting Fellow at the Centre of Genomics and Policy, McGill University, and is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Public Law, Sun Yat-sen University.
